I owned the same colour 1965 Pb 3.3 back in the early 1970's, a great car which was much loved.

Now sold and living in Cornwall, the purchaser drove it back from Hampshire, run perfectly

What a gorgeous example. Really suits the Vermillion Red. Last one I had gave in to rust in 1996. A fabulous 1850HL in Brooklands Green. These are so nice to drive and a doddle to park.

Did the twin exhaust pipes come as standard?

Very Shiny Clean Engine 1500 for Triumph Dolomite 1500 HL

Happened with my ‘75 Spitfire. When I matched up the new to the old I found that the metal bit of the shoe (that fits into the adjuster) was about 1/8” longer on the new shoes. With that, times 2, they were 1/4” too large. I bench ground the shoes and the drums fit fine. Only needed 1 click on the adjuster to finish.

I have just watched the video and have just serviced my rear brakes and my linings are half the thickness of yours I am sure you are now sorted but good video

Yup. Exact same issue here and now. Brake overhaul ...new drums n shoes. Had to file one cylinder to fit in backing plate (outside) now at end of job no fit. Reputable supplier. Crap parts.

Thanks for sharing your solution. I'm absolutely no expert, but I noticed the inlet manifold getting quite hot on my PC. I made a spacer from a 10mm sheet of teflon/PTFE (bought cheap from eBay) to go between the carb and manifold. Seems to help

Yes aren't you supposed to fit the screen to the rubber fist. (have you tried that for fit) Also try soaking in hot water to make it a bit more subtle ?

Don't worry about it, the screen will push the rubber out to fit the aperture. I've Been fitting screen to classic cars for 40 years. And especially old vauxhalls. My advice would be if you don't manage to fit the screen start looking on Australian and new Zealand ebay and there are still people making rubbers in far better quality rubber. What might be worth doing is fitting the front rubber to the screen and leave for a few days in a warm room and let the rubber form the shape of the glass. I usually fit it on and tape it so it sits in the right place. The rubber will fit but it'll take a bit of time, probably best to get a helper.

I saw one in August cruising through my village with four occupants. They looked so comfortable sitting there cruising along. My dad had a Vauxhall 101 and the seats were so comfy, and I'm sure your car is the same. Unlike today's modern cars they all have hard seats.

Does it still have the engine-driven cooling fan? Some folk remove them and fit an electric one which doesn’t run all the time, without realising that the original fans shifted air around the whole engine bay constantly. This is important in these times where petrol boils easily.

I think you idea of the gauze sounds good, i remember that in the oil filler caps on old chevy engines etc, my 3.3 sounds like it has a big end knock but the bearings are like new, mains seem fine and tappets adjusted to 12 thou cold, did these engine have piston problems that you know of ? ruclips.net/video/qvewMTv7k9U/видео.html

Those twin exhausts also passed to 3.3 FD Victor, incidentally they also passed to Mk1 Viva GT.

Done the blanking plate myself last week. Be sure to weld the flap shut as it will rattle against the new plate (ask me how I know!) Just looks like old fuel in the inlet manifold?

My 62 minx deluxe had this engine, never let me down in thousands of miles, very very reliable.

Thats rubbish.......but saying that some good 620 loclite would hold that in so tight be a pain to remove next time.....im looking for the same seal......are there any online work shop parts list for these cars ? I have a JO with 3.3 and same box.....cheers Brett

when timing an engine you need to check the position of the valves,ie when pistons 1and 4 are at tdc number 4 cylinder valves should be rocking and number 1 cylinder valves should be closed.

Think I've also got one like that - switch it on and it's looking for a DVD.....should be showing a tune screen....no tune screen. Tune button doesn't work on the remote either.

It's the same on sunbeam alpine 1725. Just spent ages at work trying to figure out why my dots didn't line up at No1 tdc firing, thought I was going mad.

Update for you I have had 2 gearbox replacements under warranty luckily, on only 50k miles and I think is quite a common problem

You should not put your fingers on a DVD/CD as you put finger stains on them which can stop them playing, you have acid on your pingers that can ruin them, you need to hold them across the edges.

Hi did it work in the end?. I just tried the Powerspark K1-PP for positive earth but no spark, will have checked on a jig, maybe my shop wrongly connected the wires and destroyed it
